The company was founded in 1984 by the late Richard Murtagh, an engineer by profession and a cook at heart. He was intrigued by issues of time and temperature in the kitchen, because accurate measurement is so important in cooking. Today CDN continues as a growing family business run by Jan Murtagh, President. Her daughter, Shawn DiGruccio, Vice President, works with her to expand the company’s horizons with sales, new product development, new markets, training, and marketing and merchandising programs.
Although CDN focuses primarily on products for home and commercial kitchens, its high-precision instruments are also sold to numerous other markets such as automotive supply. NASA uses CDN timers in space shuttle training, and a CDN timer is on display at the Space Museum in the Dayton, Ohio airport.
The company also does OEM work, supplying companies with customized thermometers and timers designed for specific applications.
CDN, The Time and Temperature Company®, continues to develop the best and most accurate timers and thermometers, with numerous projects in the works for more new products with unique, innovative features.
